To be honest I never thought about rules of conduct... just a minor oversight guess.

I assume the odd swear word here and there is fine assuming its not directed at someone. If your having a rant about something or generally having a bad day and trying to express it then I guess that's fine.

Perhaps we should have a poll?

Most popular forums, regarding simple things like gaming, media, etc, don't generally have any rules on swearing. Even if its aimed at someone, its generally allowed.

People are generally frowned upon by the masses on forums if they step out of line, so its best to let the forum develop its own underground rules.

Obviously you should have some basic guidelines, like specific things which you find totally OTT.

I guess that approach is most sensible, let the community grow and it will draw up its own set of rules based upon the kind of people who frequent the site. I actually came on to suggest a profanity filer that replaces the words with characters, but thinking about it I think Bulmer's idea is better.
